Explore texture, layering, mark-making, and color while creating expressive abstract artwork. Perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike—come experiment, play, and let your creativity flow!
We’ll explore simple techniques using non-traditional tools like brayers, palette knives, and scrapers to apply and manipulate paint. You’ll experiment with layering, mark-making, and basic composition in a fun, supportive environment. This is a great way to loosen up, trust your instincts, and discover a new form of creative expression.
No drawing or oil painting background required. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to play!
Supply List:
Paper Towel
Wax Paper
Painters Tape - 3/4 inch, removable
Baby Oil or Vegetable Oil - Small bottle for clean-up
Disposable Gloves - Either latex, vinyl, or flexible green gloves
Plastic Covering - For Table
Apron - If not wearing old clothes
Box - to carry home paintings. Needs to be bigger that 16 X 20 with lower sides. A box from Costco works great.
Optional - Photos for inspiration, tools to make marks (Skewers, chopsticks, o;d pencils, etc.
*If you have oil paints you would like to use, please bring them with to class. If not, oil paints will be available from instructor.
